Marietta Fire Museum

The Marietta Fire Museum provides a unique look at firefighting techniques and equipment from as far back as the late 1800s. The highlight of the museum is the “Aurora,” a steam-powered fire engine purchased by the city of Marietta in 1879. Also on view are pumper trucks from the 1920s, a 1949 ladder truck, and an extensive variety of firefighting paraphernalia.

Museum Mice Tours: Etta’s Favorite Shapes
Marietta Museum of History
Wednesday – 10:30am – 12:00pm

Based on programs by the Smithsonian Institute’s Early Enrichment Center, tours are offered to toddlers from age 3 to 5 and their parents. The purpose of the 45-minute tours is to introduce toddlers to history through very basic concepts like shapes, sounds, games, tools and jobs. Museum Mascots Murray and Etta are whimsical cartoon mice that help convey the themes for the tours and provide a little fun. Costumed docents lead the tours that offer a variety of activities including story time and crafts. The Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries has named the Mice Tours the 2008 Education Program of the Year.

Admission to the tour is $5 per family. www.mariettahistory.org/micetours.html
