The Crystal Palace was a wrought iron and glass building originally erected in Hyde Park, London, England, to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. After the exhibition, the building was moved to an area of London called Sydenham Hill. The Crystal Palace was enlarged and stood from 1854 until 1936, when it was destroyed by fire. Museum Mice Tours: Exploring Jobs with Murray

Based on programs by the Smithsonian Institute’s Early Enrichment Center, tours are offered to toddlers from age 3 to 5 and their parents. The purpose of the 45-minute tours is to introduce toddlers to history through very basic concepts like shapes, sounds, games, tools and jobs. Museum Mascots Murray and Etta are whimsical cartoon mice that help convey the themes for the tours and provide a little fun. Costumed docents lead the tours that offer a variety of activities including story time and crafts. The Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries has named the Mice Tours the 2008 Education Program of the Year.

The 32nd annual Harvest Square Arts & Crafts Festival, sponsored by the Marietta Parks and Recreation Department, will feature many local and area artists and craftspeople. Exhibits will include painting, pottery, woodwork, metal, jewelry, glass, fabric, floral designs, and much more. This year's festival combines Halloween Happenings and Scarecrows on the Square into a day of family fun. Halloween Happenings will feature games, activities and prizes for the entire family. The highlight will be the costume contest for children under 12 years old at 2:00 p.m. Winners usually wear creative homemade costumes. A pet costume contest will be held at 3:00 PM by Bear’s World, an educational organization promoting pet and child safety. Bring in your decorated pumpkin at 1:00 PM to be judged. Winners will be announced at 2:00 after the Scarecrow winners are announced. Scarecrows will be set up by schools, groups, and organizations the first week in October and will remain in the Square until November 1. Awards will be presented at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18 before the Kid's Costume Contest. The festival is free and free parking will be available in the Cobb County Parking Garage from the Waddell Street entrance. Civil War Tour

Step back to a time when Sherman marched down to the Marietta Square.  This special Civil War Tour, done quarterly and for private reservations of 15 or more, takes you to Cheatham Hill, the site of the worst fighting on the Kennesaw Mountain Line. The soldiers who fought over this ground will tell you of the day’s events. The Confederate and National Cemeteries will be explored as you walk among the graves of the brave men who died around the Marietta area in 1863-1864. We will tell of the devastation to the town of Marietta and its people, as told in their personal account. Spend two and a half hours riding in comfort and enjoying the stories of Marietta’s Civil War History.

Marietta Museum of History
Located on the second floor of the historic Kennesaw House, the Marietta Museum of History houses the city’s extensive historical collections of photographs, artifacts and documentary information of Marietta in particular, and North Georgia in general.

Marietta/ Cobb Museum of Art
The Marietta/ Cobb Museum of Art is the only metropolitan Atlanta fine arts museum focusing on 19th and 20th Century American art. It hosts national touring exhibitions, and offers lectures, workshops, classes, and art festivals. Other social and cultural opportunities are also offered.

William Root House
The Root House, one of the oldest surviving frame houses in Marietta, offers visitors an opportunity to experience how a middle-class merchant and his family lived in the 1850s.

Marietta Fire Museum
The Marietta Fire Museum provides a unique look at firefighting techniques and equipment from as far back as the late 1800s. The highlight of the museum is the “Aurora,” a steam-powered fire engine purchased by the city of Marietta in 1879. Also on view are pumper trucks from the 1920s, a 1949 ladder truck, and an extensive variety of firefighting paraphernalia.

The Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum: Scarlett on the Square
The Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum: Scarlett on the Square was established in April of 2003 and currently houses Dr. Christopher Sullivan's privately owned collection of GWTW book and movie memorabilia. In recent years, Sullivan's collection was displayed at Kent State University, the Self - Family Arts Center in Hilton Head, South Carolina and at MGM Studios in Walt Disney World. The collection features an impressive compilation of artifacts related to the novel and film including foreign film posters, rare press and publicity books, premiere programs, conceptual artworks, costume pieces, contracts, advertisements, promotional items and collectibles.
